The Great Ocean Road in Australia is a 240-kilometer (150 mile) stretch of road in the state of Victoria along the south-eastern coast of Australia. The road is a national heritage site that is dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives during World War I, and was built between 1919-1932 by the soldiers who had returned from the war. One of the most prominent landmarks to be seen along the Great Ocean Road is the Twelve Apostles limestone stack formations that can be seen climbing out of the water on the Southern Ocean coastline.
