Mont Ventoux is a mountain in the Provence region of southern France. Although technically part of the Alps, it is isolated from the rest of the Alps mountain ranges, and is often considered to be a separate entity. It is frequently referred to as "Le Géant de Provence" (The Giant of Provence), as it is the highest mountain in the region at an altitude of 1,909m. At the summit of Mont Ventoux you can experience high winds ("venteux" in French means "windy"), the distinctive white/red meteorological tower, and the characteristic limestone landscape with few trees/plants.
