The Transfagarasan in Romania, also known as the DN7C (National Road 7C), is one of the most popular roads in the world. The road began construction in 1970 as a strategic military route, and stretches ~90km across the southern part of the Carpathian Mountains, reaching an altitude of 2,042m. Two popular attractions along the Transfagarasan include Bâlea Lake and Bâlea Waterfall.
